Clark Cast and Crew Screening

The Cast and Crew screening was presented at the beautiful Athens Theatre in Deland. This is where we shot an important scene in the movie so it was fitting that we screened here. We had over two hundred people turn out for the films showing. The Q&A afterwards was a huge success. Now...onto the festivals!

CLARK SHOOTING IS 100% COMPLETE!

We wrapped our final day of shooting! Pick up shots were completed on April 26th 2009. We shot some new footage that looks awesome! We are now off to digitize that footage and then do a final edit. Then we're going to sound design and audio mix as well as composition. Then Max will do the final effects and color correction and we'll be 100% finished!

Lee Riley on board for Sound design and Mix for Clark.

Lee Riley, of Anything Audible, has signed on to do the sound design and final mix for Clark. Lee was brought up in England raised on Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers, crooning Welsh balladeers, British classic rock and 80's synth-pop.  Being a keyboard player, he gravitated towards the electronic scene and quickly involved himself with local bands.  Through the next few years Lee played keyboards, composed songs with fellow musicians and was an Audio Engineer in Spain and the U.S.  He ended up at the beginning of 2001 at Full sail in Winter Park, Florida, where he is still teaching today as Course Director of Audio Post Production for the Film Bachelor's Degree.  Full Sail is where he met and started working with Steve Cox. We are thrilled to have Lee onboard!

Clark Trailer

The final trailer/teaser for our film Clark.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I grew up in Roseville California on a little two lane road called Olive Ranch Road. The memories and happy times I shared their were unforgettable. It was the 1950's and TV was in it's infancy, there were no reruns. Reading books was bigger than movies. It was at this time in my life that I began creating the imagination that would help me as a writer later in life. I always said that if I ever had a production company that I'd name it after my favorite place to live. And so, here I am, many years later writing and directing. So it only seems fit that I finally tag my memories as a production company name. The logo you see here was put together by Pete Wesenberg of 45 Audio. I think it looks awesome!

Composition has Begun!

I was in Dani Donadi's beautiful studio a week ago with actor John Kyle to record new Voice Overs for the trailer. This week we finalized the placement of the VO's and Dani gave me a sneak peak at the theme music he's composing for both young Clark and older Clark. His music is going to take this film to heights we never imagined. I can't wait to see what he'll bring to the film!

The Story

Clark is a powerful and poignant story of a young boy growing up in 1952 who has a strong loving bond with his mother, but must find a way to survive an abusive father.  To escape reality, he is drawn further into his own world of believing he can be Superman.  Follow his journey to present day as a man who must find himself and his place in the world.

Footage digitized.

The footage (all eight tapes and  six hours worth) is officially digitized and being moved to the hard drive. Next step, my editor begins synching sound to the footage.

Production

The production days for Clark were December 20th and 21st and January 3rd and 4th. We were very lucky, despite a couple of issues, to run on schedule. The film is now in post production with my editor Max Miller. I will post the progress here....stay tuned.

Producers

Producers Melissa Gruver and Randy Molnar
I don't know who I met first, it doesn't matter. They are quite a team capable of multi tasking and making productions a very smooth process. I met Randy as an actor on a NYU film.  We became friends and we've worked on several projects together.

1st AD

1st AD
Nathan McMahan
Nathan and I met years ago as actors on a short film. I've worked with him as an actor on pro shoots when he was 1st AD. When it came time to look for a  1st he was my first choice.

Director of Photography

Director of Photography
Jose Cassella
Jose cast me as "Mr. Hand" in a feature film called Delivery. He's DP'd several features that I've been cast in and his work is outstanding.
He brings a lot to the table with his work in Clark.

Audio

Sound Mixer
Pete Wesenberg
I met Pete when we were instructors at Full Sail. He's been sound mixer on several films that I've worked on. He started his own company with John "Claudio" called 45 audio. I had a headset as director and for the first time heard the "chatter" that goes on between Pete and John. I am forever changed.

John Statzell
Boom operator
John and I met years ago at Full Sail when I first started working on Full Sail films. He was actually one of my first acting students. Great guy.

Gaffer

Gaffer
Brandon Nevius or "Sideshow."
I met Brandon as a student at Full Sail. He has boundless energy and I rarely see him complain. He's always working and comes to the set full throttle.

Thank you
